Rice Measures
2.5 D x 12.5Throughout the Edo and early Meiji periods rice was the basis of measuring wealth and status. Indeed the warrior class was paid with a rice stipend. These coopered buckets of hinoki were measures for rice and likely used into the Meiji era: 1868-1912. Each has brands burned into the wood and occasionally a still intact paper seal. 1 T. $225.00 [Add to Cart] [View Cart] |
